Old Fashioned Fudge Candy

Old Fashioned Fudge Candy is one of my favorites treats from my childhood.  It’s oh-so-sweet, and the crumbly texture is unique and completely addicting.   This is not your typical fudge recipe, it has much more of hard candy texture, a kind of chocolate bar thing going on, that crumbles in your mouth, and is satisfyingly sweet.  Talk about the perfect Valentines Day treat!

I’m so very excited to share this recipe with you because it is my lovely Mama’s, that she has passed along, and it brings back so many memories from when I was a little girl.  My mom would make this candy on extra special occasions, and as a child, I just could never ever get enough!   It’s super easy to whip up a batch of this sweet chocolate candy, it takes about 15 minutes to make, and about 30 minutes to set.  Here’s to a sweet fudgy treat, a perfect little something to share with your special some one.

  • 2 Cups of White Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup of Butter
  • 1/4 Cup of Cocoa
  • 1/2 Cup of Milk
  • 1 Cup of Flour

Combine sugar, butter, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan, and bring to a boil.  IMG_5203

Boil on medium heat for 10 minutes (this is important, so make sure you time this).  Keep an eye on this, and stir consistently.  It’s going to get real bubbly!IMG_5207

Remove from heat, and stir in flour, mix until it’s nice and smooth.IMG_5213

Pour mixture into a greased 9×9 pan, (I use wax paper to line my pan), at this point, I tossed some sprinkles on top to make it look extra pretty!  Then place in fridge to set for approximately 30 minutes.IMG_5217

Once set, slice into small pieces.  This is a very sweet fudge, so a little goes a long way.IMG_5261
